SOUND PROJECT

 Sound Project

My sound project was a soundscape of trick or treating night. In this night, a group of kids wandered to a house, knocking on the door. In this house, there was a dog. When the owner opened the door, the dog ran free, the owner chasing it. Finally, he was caught and the owner gave out candy to the kids, them leaving after.

During this project, me and my partner first gathered all the sounds, placing them into a file. We both gathered our collective sounds. We got a few different sounds for each singular object just incase we embedded it and disliked how it turned out. After, we started onto the work. We linked all the very last background noises such as night ambience of crickets, chatter, skateboard, laughter, and more. Afterwards, we began to layer.

We layered based of the characters. Their footsteps and movements came first. Than we brought in the sounds of the house becoming closer and louder to the viewers ears. As we embedded the action noises of the dog escaping, we changed the noise levels of each object. The perspective stuck with the children, so the dog barks receded when it ran away. Using keyframes on the audio we accomplished this. To finish it off, we listened to the overall sound and made small tweaks to fade out ending sounds so they weren't as abrupt to stop.
